Douglas L. Coyle, Ph.D., Senior Pastor
Doug is the organizing pastor for Grace Covenant
Church. He grew up in Las Cruces and graduated from Mesilla Valley
Christian School. He received a B.S. in Business Administration from
San Diego Christian College in California, where he also served as
Student Body President and played four years on the basketball team.
He attended Westminster Theological Seminary, CA and received his
Masters of Divinity in 1995. During his first year in Seminary he
married Jennie.
After serving as an Assistant Pastor and taking
classes towards a Masters in Philosophy at San Diego State University,
Doug and his wife Jennie moved to Waco, Texas where he began to work
on a Ph.D. at Baylor University. In 1998, Doug and Jennie moved to
Las Cruces with hopes of planting a church. Doug served as an Associate
Pastor for University Presbyterian Church as he worked toward planting
the daughter church.
In February of 2004 Grace Covenant Church began
meeting. In February of 2005 Grace Covenant Church became a particularized
church. In December of 2005 the church purchased a 12,500 square foot
building on the corner of N. Main and Elks across from the Lowe’s
(3111 N. Main St). Doug and Jennie have four children, Hunter, Noah,
Connor and Davis. In May of 2006 Doug completed his Ph.D. from Baylor
University. In December 2007, Jennie completed her Master's in Communication
Studies from New Mexico State Unviersity. Doug and Jennie both enjoy
sports and coaching thier sons teams. Next, to watching the Phoenix

Adam Shields, Assistant Pastor
Adam was born in Richmond, Virginia and grew up
in various parts of the state including Lynchburg, VA and Bristol,
VA. Adam came to know Jesus as his King and Savior at the age of 15
through the ministry of Young Life. After high school he headed off
to Carson-Newman College, in Jefferson City, TN, where he was involved
with Campus Crusade for Christ. It was through a small group that
he was stirred to the pursuit of God and the beginning of a call to
ministry.
Adam graduated from CNC in 2002 with dual majors
in Religion and Human Services, and then took a semester break before
beginning his seminary studies at Reformed Theological Seminary in
Orlando, FL in January 2003. Upon graduation from RTS in the Spring
of 2006, he worked briefly as an Assistant to the Pastor at Covenant
Presbyterian Church in Oviedo, FL. Beginning in the Fall of 2006,
he began a two year pastoral internship at Eastwood Presbyterian Church
in Montgomery, AL. While in Montgomery he had opportunities to preach,
teach, coach boys basketball for Eastwood Christian School, participate
in missions and outreach, as well as take part in various parts of
the life of the church.
In October 2008, Adam joined Grace Covenant Church
as Assistant to the Pastor where he helps lead and equip in the areas
of teaching, worship, youth ministry, college ministry, outreach and
missions. Adam enjoys playing basketball and tennis, engaging the
arts of film, literature, and music, and spending quality time with
friends and family in good conversation. He is an avid fan of traveling,
Mountain Dew, and since becoming a resident of New Mexico….green chili!
